YUMMY!

Mommy brought home a special treat from the grocery store so after dinner Liam and Landon got their first Popsicle. Of course I was smart enough to buy the slow melt toddler sized Popsicles.

Perfect Smile

Yesterday I took the boys to their first dentist appointment. They both did great and let the dentist and his assistant clean and check their teeth. Of course I was a very proud Mommy! To top it all off, both boys have no cavities (I was shocked to hear that a lot of kids have at least one cavity by their first dentist visit). The dentist put Liam and Landon's names on the no cavity board and we are hoping that we never have to take it down!

Sunny Days

After a long Winter with a lot of wet and cold days, we were thrilled to see the Sun make an appearance this week! Though it wasn't hot out, we settled for warm and enjoyed our sprinkler.

Of course Mommy didn't want the boys to get cold so we hooked the hose to the sink in the laundry room so that we could play in a warm sprinkler!

Our first little Climber...

The boys were running around the kitchen as I cleaned up and swept the floors. I turned around just in time to see this.....

Landon just may be the next famous mountain climber! This kid has no fear! Of course I panicked and gasped, he looked at me with his sly little grin and started walking toward me. Luckily I was able to get to him before he took a step right off the edge of the table.

The Crazy Days of Spring

CAMPING..... Last year we took the boys tent camping when they were 6 months old. Of course that same weekend Landon cut his first tooth and was very cranky. Scott and I quickly decided that tent camping was not realistic for our new family of 4. This year we have been fortunate enough to have been offered a tent trailer to borrow. After cleaning up and restocking the trailer, we headed out for our first adventure on April 28th. We didn't go far (just accross town to Papa Cool's) but that little adventure gave us a chance to try out the trailer and learn how to use everything. Scott and I didn't get to relax much between the stresses of setting up and taking down the trailer and chasing the boys around but the boys had a great time running around the trailer and roaming through Papa Cool's field. We are so excited for all of our camping trips that we have planned this summer and hope that the set up/ take down will consume less of our time once we get the hang of it. Next time I will remember to bring the camera so I can take more pictures.

Spaghetti with a Twist

My husband is a very picky eater, lately I have noticed that it seems to be rubbing off on Landon. I have decided to put my foot down and make my family eat better! I love spaghetti but was looking for a way to make it a bit healthier, my cousin gave me a great idea and we tried it out tonight. Instead of using pasta noodles, we used spaghetti squash. It is actually really simple and doesn't taste much different than using spaghetti noodles. The best part was that I was able to make a big pot of sauce, cook up some noodles and make two dishes of Pizza Pasta to put into the freezer for another night. Here are the instructions for both the Squash Spaghetti and the Pizza Pasta (it can be frozen for later or made fresh for the night). Spaghetti Squash 1. Cut a spaghetti squash in half and place into a microwave safe bowl, place 1/4 of an inch of water in the bottom of the bowl and cover. Cook in the microwave for 12 minutes. 2. Scrape the squash with a fork (it comes out looking like spaghetti noodles). 3. Make a big pot of spaghetti sauce (or heat 2 jars of pre-made sauce). 4. Dish up squash and cover with sauce, Enjoy!

Pizza Pasta 1. Boil a large package of Rotini Noodles. 2. Use left over sauce (from Spaghetti Squash) and mix sauce, noodles and 3 cups of mozzarella cheese (I also added pepperoni). 3. Pour pasta into a greased 9x13 pan. 4. Cover pasta with 2 cups of mozzarella cheese and pepperonis. 5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or cover the pans with aluminum foil and freeze (when ready to eat, thaw and cook at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes).

Look What I Made!

I love the idea of DIY and have found a zillion adorable crafts on Pintrest that I would love to make. The problem is that I am not crafty at all! Although I am trying to work on that and have come to discover that I actually do a decent job if I have awesome instructions. Last night was Craft Night at our multiples group meeting. Here is the final product that I made. Hopefully there will be more cute crafts to come!

These signs were very easy to make, here are the instructions: 1.Cut wood the size that you want your sign to be. 2.Sand the wood until smooth. 3.Paint with acrylic paint and allow to dry (we used hair dryers to make this go faster). 4.Using vinyl lettering, attach whatever you want to say to the board. 5.Place a brace for hanging on the back using a hammer. 6.Using a hot glue gun, glue clothes pins to hold your child's artwork.

Neighbors

I grew up in the small town of Orting, it was the type of town in which everyone knew everyone else, no one locked their doors, parents and children had the same teachers (just 30 years apart), and a kid couldn't get away with anything without their parents being called before they even made it home. In my neighborhood, we spent the Summers sleeping outside in our yard and playing tag and riding our bikes through the streets. My whole family lived within five miles of me and I went to school with the same kids from kindergarten up.

Across the street from my house lived two very special people, Ann and Les Spangler. For as long as I can remember, I have had a strong connection to them. Tiffany and I used to trot over to their house at least once a day, we would bypass the front door and go straight to the kitchen door. We were always greeted with a snack (purchased just for us) and were invited in. For many years we spent a lot of time with Ann and Les. They introduced us to kiwi fruit, The Price is Right, and bowling. Through my childhood, teenage years, and even as a young adult, I remained close with Ann and Les. 

I moved back to my childhood town in April of 2007, however it is not the same small town that it once was. Our family lives outside of town now which doesn't allow my boys to have the same type of neighborhood that I once had. I never would have guessed that our only neighbors would provide my boys with the same love and memories that I shared with Ann and Les. Liam and Landon's Ann and Les are Elmer and Elaine Clark. Elmer and Elaine are high school sweethearts that went seperate ways after high school, both married others but were reunited at a high school reunion after becoming widowed. With no children of thier own, Elmer and Elaine have claimed my boys as theirs. Though Liam and Landon are only seventeen months old, they have already begun to build forever memories with their Grammy and Grampy. Elmer and Elaine have loved my boys from the moment that they met them. They call to check on them and will find any excuse possible to come over to visit. Even though they are both into their 80's, they are the first to call and ask if they can babysit or if they can take our whole family out. Scott and I know that they only invite us so that our feelings aren't hurt, they really just want to show the boys off to their friends. 

This last weekend, Scott and I decided to have a small garage sale. As soon as Grammy and Grampy saw that the boys were outside in their stroller they came to visit. Grammy took the boys for a walk while Grampy did some work in the yard. After a few minutes I noticed that I couldn't see Grammy and the twins, I wasn't sure if I should go try to find them or not but just as I was going to go track them down, they appeared. Grammy had taken the boys to meet some of the other people that live on our street, she said "I wanted Gene to meet my boys." As I watch Liam and Landon with Grammy and Grampy, I can't help but think of Ann and Les and it makes me happy to know that Liam and Landon will one day have the same love and memories with Grammy and Grampy that I shared with Ann and Les.

Ann and Les have been gone for quite a few years now but I still think of them often and am forever grateful that so many years ago God made them my neighbors.
